Our Nation's Capital - Washington, D.C.

Justin had an extended weekend off at the end of April - we decided to take advantage of it and head to Washington, D.C.  First stop was Prince Frederick, MD to hang out and spend time with Reiko and Ari.  Not to mention it made it nice not to have to spend a night in a hotel!  The first day Reiko had to work so after church we loaded the kiddos up and ventured into the city.  It was a Sunday so parking was CRAZY.  We ended up paying a fortune to park in a garage, but felt like it was the easiest way to not have to fight traffic.  We had wisely brought the double stroller for the youngest two and scooters for the older girls!  It was GREAT!  First stop was the White House!  I'm not sure what I was expecting, but you can't really get very close - just a view from behind a fence!

Then it was on to the Washington Monument

WWII Memorial

I really wanted to get a better view of the White House

It was a LONG day of walking, but I am glad we were able to see all of these historic sights.  I have never been before and would like to go back to hit all of the sites we didn't see - Lincoln Memorial, Reflection Pond, etc.

The next day Reiko was able to join us so we went to the National Museum of History.

The kids attention spans weren't the greatest so our visit was cut a little shorter than I would have liked, but it was great to show them all of the cool exhibits!  Until next time...

Looks like some great adventures you are having! Also your kids are at the age when they start enjoying these adventures and it becomes more fun. :) I hope we can do something fun together when we finally get to DC. Cannot wait to see you guys!
