Halloween 2014

All too soon HALLOWEEN was upon us!  The kids were so EXCITED to pick out their costumes this year...they had been discussing possible costumes for MONTHS!  Taija and Mika decided to be Elsa and Anna.  I was going to try and dissuade them due to the inevitable MILLIONS of other little girls dressing up in these same costumes, but decided that if they wanted to be ELSA and ANNA who was I to persuade them otherwise!  And I must say they were the most ADORABLE sister princesses out there.  Luke literally changed his mind on a daily basis.  He started off as Zane, the White Ninja from the Ninjago Ninjas.  I ordered the costume from Amazon and must say was extremely DISAPPOINTED in the quality of the outfit.  I initially tried to convince him to be Kristoff to match the Frozen Theme (not realizing there was NO purchasable costume).  Feeling bad for my little ninja I let him pick out a costume 10 days before the BIG event at Target.  He chose Hawkeye from Captain America.  I even showed him some trailers from the movie so that he could really SEE who he was representing.  He LOVED it!  3 Days before Halloween I made the mistake of asking Luke if he wanted to be Kristoff from Frozen and I would get him a Sven stuffed animal.  Well, OF COURSE he now says YES.  So, off to the Disney Store we go to get an AWESOME Sven toy and several trips to Joaans and a few late nights studying Pinterest we had our Kristoff costume.  And my 3 little kiddos became the 3 main stars of Frozen...

This year we were once again invited to the Bird Family Halloween Party, and just like last year it was AMAZING.  They live in this cute little neighborhood that is ONE BIG LOOP - perfect for Trick-or-Treating.  People are so friendly, and most are outside with fire-pits participating in this crazy event.  The Bird Family had their fire pit too and we were able to roast marshmallows and truly enjoy the festivities.  Justin was on a night schedule, but was able to be with us for MOST of the evening.    All in all a GREAT night.

The next day was our WARD Trunk or Treat Party.  The kids LOVED that they were able to dress up 2 days in a row and get candy.  I was a little worried with the forecast calling for COLD weather and rain, but with it being at the church building there was nothing to fear.  Luckily Justin was able to be there for ALL of this party!

About a week prior to Halloween Taija's school had a Fall Festival.  Justin is not into LARGE kid crazy events so we had decided that it would be a special Taija and Mommy date night.  Taija was so excited to get dressed up in her Elsa costume and go to her school.  The PTA had put together some activities for the kids and supplied pizza.  Taija LOVED it.  Although it was a little traumatic when I had to explain to her that she would most likely NOT get a ribbon/prize for her Bunny that she entered into the pumpkin contest.  And since we were leaving before the party ended we would need to bring her Bunny home if she didn't want it to get thrown out.  Here's to hoping for NO MORE pumpkin contests!
