To my birthday boy on his special day...
I can't believe Luke is F-O-U-R! In some ways it seems like it has been MUCH longer than 4 years, but in others it was just yesterday that my chubby chill baby came home. This year has brought A LOT of changes and some growing up by my little man. With Taija gone to school Luke is the BIG sibling around the house. He is doing much better with Mika, but there is still LOTS of room for improvement in their relationship. It is interesting to witness as he is fiercely protective of her when there is a group of older kids...but at home, in his space, let's just say Mika is NOT his favorite playmate. Luke knows how to PUSH all of my buttons!! I LOVE him and always will, but due to his inability to communicate early on we have allowed him much more leeway than the girls. We have been working on NO WHINING which is a struggle, but Luke is getting much better and figuring out how to rephrase his question/whine much quicker.
With that being said...LUKE is my most passionate, lovable, cuddly superhero! He loves to play with dragons, trains, and his good guys. Luke loves to wrestle and be tickled and is the FASTEST 4-year-old I have ever seen on his scooter. Luke LOVES to be outside and any kind of chasing game. He isn't afraid of anything - except for being anywhere ALONE. This year has sadly brought the end of his naps - although mommy still needs them so he has quiet time. Luke still loves to swim. We have started doing preschool once a week with some friends and while most weeks he does okay I am afraid to see what Pre-K will bring next year. Luke also does speech therapy once a week and it is NOT his most favorite thing to do.
Luke is pretty funny about nicknames. He doesn't like to be called sweetheart, baby, Lukey or any sort of 'baby' name. He is okay with Tiger and Buddy, but that's about it. He is pretty funny because he will correct you and let you know his name is Luke. The only person to get away with sweetheart is his Grammy.
While some days are extremely exhausting I wouldn't trade him for the world - I love my Luke Buddy and am so grateful he is MINE!
